Tulane Men's Basketball Schedule Analysis

Tulane Men's Basketball released the schedule for the 2011-2012 season yesterday, and so it only seemed proper to take a look at it. This is little more than a glimpse into the games that Tulane will play this season, and the marquee match that Tulane fans need to be ready for.

The first part of the schedule should not present any major problems for the Green Wave. With games against teams like Navy and Nicholls State, Tulane should have no trouble coming out the gate at least seven wins before the schedule hits a big speed bump.

That speed bump comes in the form of Georgia Tech, at Fogelman. Georgia Tech is an ACC school and has a rich basketball history. While it seems that swiping a victory from the Yellow Jackets will be an uphill battle, there isn't a better place to do it. If Fogelman is packed, and Tulane can make its shots, some national eyebrows could be raised. For Tulane to be victorious in this match, the Green Wave will have to play extraordinarily well. That said, were Tulane to snag a win, the resume will receive a big bump.

In the same vein, playing at Wofford, a past NCAA tournament team, could provide a great chance to Tulane to win on the road at a good school.

It doesn't get much easier after those two games. Tulane goes to Syracuse, of basketball fame. A perennial Big East basketball power, Syracuse could be a tough game for the Green Wave, but they'll have some wins under their belt heading into it. Sadly, it probably wont be a win, but Tulane needs to hold it's own for the sake of credibility.

At this point, Tulane enters conference play. This, is the most important part of the season. Yet, if Tulane can prevent a free-fall like they had last year, the Green Wave will have a strong chance to win quite a few games in conference.

The schedule isn't too difficult, but there will be challenges, both out of and in conference.
