Once again, the Wave will get to continue their warm-up for conference play against a relative unknown. However, unlike Maryville and Centenary - the last two victims of the Wave's relaxed non-conference schedule - Nicholls may have some real bite.
The team is 1-2 with losses at Houston (by only one point) and powerhouse Oklahoma State. The Colonels' win came on the road against LSU in the second game of the season.
This wasn't exactly an easy task. The last time the Tigers fell to a Louisiana school on their home court came in 1988.
The man to watch out for from Nicholls State is Anatoly Bose, a 6' 6" Australian who averages close to 30 points per game this season. For a team that averages only 60 points per game as a whole, that number is saying a lot. Shutting down the senior will amount to paralyzing a stagnant offense.
The Wave will have to avoid the defensive grind against the Colonels (which has ensnared LSU and Houston). Luckily, scoring has not been much of a concern so far this season with two 90+ point games already on the books.
With a strong game from senior and scoring leader Kris Richard, the Wave should be able to handle the upset-minded Colonels. Expect this to test Tulane's ability to move the ball against a slow, systematic squad.
