The Big Unknown: Tulane
Ed Conroy has the Green Wave at 10-3 heading into conference season, but Tulane didn't exactly play a tough schedule. The Wave lost the most significant games on the slate (at Georgetown, at VCU) and also lost at Nicholls State. But Conroy was a winner at The Citadel and he has clearly brought that attitude to New Orleans. Let's see if Tulane can maintain this decent play deep into the league seasonOn one hand, it's true that Tulane hasn't picked up a signature win yet. However, things have changed a bit - this was written a week ago, and two more Conference USA wins against tough opponents make the Green Wave look a bit more like a real threat.
Sure. Tulane is not ready - at this stage - to beat Georgetown. However, with their consistency so far this season, making a run at a C-USA championship is not out of the question, especially with an inconsistent Memphis. That type of progress deserves recognition. Becoming a serious program is a big deal, and I am excited to see what this development will do for our recruiting in future years.
Tulane takes on 13-4 UTEP tonight at home. Let's see if they can start the conference season off at 3-0.
