Preview: Alabama State @ Tulane (11/30)

The Hornets of Alabama State will roll into Fogelman Arena on Tuesday to take on the Green Wave. After a disappointing loss to an in-state rival (the Nicholls State Colonels) last week, the Wave will look to build some confidence in a big win over an NCAA bottom-feeder.

That shouldn't be too hard. The Hornets rank over 300th (out of all NCAA Division I teams) in points per game, rebounds per game, assists per game, and average field goal percentage. Yikes. Their latest loss came at the hands of Conference USA's University of Central Florida (an 84-48 defeat). The rest of the schedule consists of similar beatdowns thus far.

Tulane has three warm-up games (Alabama State, Louisiana-Lafayette, and UNO) before they challenge VCU at their house. In preparation, the team needs to focus on improving its relatively inconsistent shooting and vastly improve on the boards. Otherwise, things may get sticky very quickly against a mid-major powerhouse that has already taken down Wake Forest and UCLA in its tough non-conference season.

The game against Alabama State kicks off at 7 PM CST on Tuesday night.
