Tulane is at Nicholls State today for a non-conference matchup against the Colonels. I will be posting a few live updates along the way since the game isn't televised and ESPN will not be providing a GameCast.
Update: You can check out the live stats for the game right here courtesy of Tulane. I will keep posting as the game progresses. Make sure to leave comments.
1st Half:
16:40 - The game is slow moving so far, and the Colonels are up 5-3 against the Wave.
15:11 - The game is tied up at 5-5. Kendall Simmons is responsible for the bulk of the Wave's scoring at this point.
9:33 - Tulane is down 12-10 halfway through the first half.
8:55 - Tulane ties it up with the Colonels for the first time since the game began. Anatoly Bose of Nicholls State leads the team with 7 points.
5:20 - Colonels up 14 to 12. NS at 10 fouls already and the Green Wave is up to 10. This is the slow-moving, grinding style that has characterized the Colonels all season.
2:39 - Tulane regains the lead at 18-16.
0:00 - Nicholls State scores as time expired to tie the game up 20-20.
Recap:
Tulane is getting bogged down in the slow, physical game preferred by the Colonels. There were 24 fouls between the two teams in the first half alone. Senior star Kris Richards has been a non-threat so far with 0 points on the board. He's not alone, as virtually no Green Wave player has entered a hot streak of any kind yet.
2nd Half:
18:19 - The Colonels are on a roll with a 7-0 run to start the second half. They lead 27-20.
10:43 - Nicholls State remains in the lead by 10 points at 39-29. The stat tracker is down, so I am only getting updates on the score.
4:17 - The Green Wave is swinging back. Down 48-41 now.
2:38 - 52-49 with the Wave down 3. Let's go.
1:47 - Nicholls State nails a 3 to move to 58-49. The offense needs to pick up immediately.
0:00 - Nicholls State closes the door on the Wave's efforts to surge in the last minute. They finish with the victory. 66-52 for the Colonels.
